Abstract:As witnesses to the development of industrial civilization, industrial heritage holds significant historical and contemporary value for exploring industrial history and culture and promoting modern social development. The protection and utilization of industrial heritage have drawn widespread attention both domestically and internationally. Influenced by postmodernist thought, new museology emphasizes a critical reflection on traditional museology, and its principles are largely consistent with the concepts of industrial heritage protection, thus offering novel approaches and methodologies for the conservation and reuse of industrial heritage. In this sense, Handan, with its profound industrial history, boasts a rich and diverse array of industrial heritage. In actively exploring ways to protect and utilize these resources, the city has achieved considerable success while also encountering certain challenges. Accordingly, new museology can provide important theoretical support and practical guidance for these endeavors.
